The Swiss Courier
Trisha Goyer & Mike Yorkey
Gabi Mueller is a Swiss-American charged with a dangerous task during World War II in 1944. Being a spy for the American Office of Strategic Services (the percursor to today's CIA), she has to safely transport a defecting German scientist out of Germany into Switzerland, thereby thwarting the Germans' plans of making an atomic bomb. But along the way whom can she trust to keep her job details a secret and who are the real enemies?
I enjoyed reading about Gabi Mueller and her story of bravery. Even though the story and character are fictional, I was able to see the many descriptions of true events that occured during World War II. This element made the story more authentic. I also enjoyed the fact that the story was fast-paced with no dull moments. I was very hesitant to actually get the book for review especially because I have never read any of Ms. Goyer's books. But I must say I have been very pleasantly suprised. I look forward to reading other books from her.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

While pursuing an engineering degree in college, Kirk endeavored to tell his own stories, choosing writing as the easiest and cheapest medium to master—or so he thought. Several years and several hundred thousand words later, he produced a Sci-fi trilogy that shall never (God willing) see the light of day, but that did teach him much needed lessons about the craft of writing fiction.
After college Kirk returned to his homeland of Bermuda where he reunited with his childhood friend and future wife, Ria. But before marrying his lovely wife, Kirk entered an even greater marriage and devoted his life to Christ in 2002.
With a new found direction in life, writing fell by the wayside but the urge to tell futuristic stories never left. After much prayer and contemplation, Kirk purposed his writing for God’s Will, seeking to draw to Christ those who shared his passions for all things futuristic and Sci-fi.
Kirk currently lives with his wife Ria and 18 month old son Miles in beautiful Bermuda. He is a faithful member of the Church of Christ and is a professional engineer employed by the government.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Enter Sherwood Statham, an English aristocrat whose father has sentenced him to a year of work in America to “straighten him out.” Sherwood, who expected a desk job at a posh spa, isn’t happy to be stuck on an Idaho ranch. And he has no idea how to handle Cleo, who’s been challenged with transforming this uptight playboy into a down-home cowboy, because he has never encountered a woman succeeding in a “man’s world.”
Just about everything either of them says or does leaves the other, well, fit to be tied. Cleo Arlington knows everything about horses but nothing about men. And though Cleo believes God’s plan for her includes a husband, it couldn’t possibly be Sherwood Statham. Could it?
Their bumpy trot into romance is frustrating, exhilarating, and ultimately heartwarming.

Mark Sanders, a member of the Hostage Rescue Team (HRT) is recuperating both physicals and emotionally in St. Louis after he gets shot and he accidentally shoots a teenager. When his stay is drawing to a close he runs into Emily Lawson, a girl he knew in the past. Before they can become better acquainted, somebody starts shooting at them. Mark’s superiors think that he is the target as does Emily. However, Mark does not fully agree with that. As the investigation proceeds, will Mark be able to keep Emily safe?
The second book in the Heroes of Quantico book starts of with a bang (no pun intended!). I enjoyed the suspense throughout the novel; it was action-packed and fast paced. I enjoyed the chemistry between Emily and Mark. Material regarding the FBI and the HRT has been very well researched. The writing is very smooth and even and I enjoyed delving into the lives of Emily and Mark. I have been trying to find more Dee Henderson style stories and I am happy to say that I have found them in this series and author! I am looking forward to the next book!
